Sourced from 20-to-100-year-old Barossa Valley vineyards, RWT Shiraz is a seductive style that’s matured only in French oak. This distinguishes it from its famous Penfolds peer, Grange, which is sourced from multiple regions and matured in American oak.
All RWT is produced with the aim of optimising balance, ripeness and flavour, but different vintages bring their own qualities. In the 2004 you’ll experience an opulent, juicy and mouth-watering palate featuring a compote of assorted berries, satsuma plum and cherry. The full-bodied 2005 is replete with generous, ripe, even yet firm tannins and flavours of wild-berry fruits – blueberry, boysenberry and loganberry. Then from the 2006 vintage the RWT expresses tarry/licorice blackness – espresso, ground coffee and dark chocolate with plush, velvety tannins.
