Bethany L & E Shiraz 2008

This Reserve Shiraz from one of the oldest established winemakers in the Barossa Valley is named after fourth generation vignerons, Lawrence and Edna Schrapel, parents of current Bethany winemakers, Geoff and Robert Schrapel.
 
This Barossa Shiraz was fermented on skins in the traditional manner for 8 to 10 days at 24–28ºC to extract sufficient colour and tannins. The juice was pumped over skins twice daily until the desired colour and weight were reached. The wine was then drained and pressed and pressings returned to the wine which spent 16 months in predominately French oak.
 
Brilliantly youthful black plum, cherry and spice aromas introduce a palate that’s still tight and bright with jammy fruit power in excellent balance with fine development of cedary oak and tannin harmony.
