Perth Hills

The Perth Hills is a fairly new region, granted its official status in 1999 yet has flourished quickly. Stretching along the Darling Scarp from Serpentine to Bindoon. The climate in the region has been compared to the Barossa Valley in South Australia. It is typically Mediterranean; with cool to cold wet winters and warm dry summers. The soils of the region range from rich clays to sandy over gravel loams.

The most successful varieties of the region are Viognier and Shiraz, although Verdelho, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc thrive there too.
