From the Piedmont region of northern Italy, 'the spiritual home of Barbera', this rich and dark wine was produced with a focus on biodiversity and sustainability.
Fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 30-32ºC, with frequent pump-overs to extract colour and tannins. It then underwent malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels and remained there for a maturation period of up to one year. After bottling, it was cellared for 12 months. Opening with a rich, dark, curranty fruit lift, it has earthy, slightly funky undertones on the nose. The dense palate is full, rich and long, with a spicy, savoury twist. Juicy acidity and fine tannins promise good mid-term cellaring potential.
