Marsanne, a white grape that originated in the Northern Rhône, France, has found an unlikely yet harmonious home in the Margaret River.
Fruit for this Marsanne was crushed and destemmed with a portion consigned to French oak for eight weeks, before the final wine was stored on yeast lees for 10 months.
Pale straw yellow in the glass, it opens with a savoury stonefruit lift over subtle, toasty oak. The palate features ripe stonefruit and a light toasty complexity. A velvety mouthfeel and a good core of melon fruit ensure it finishes with a fumé-like toasty persistence on the long finish. A great food wine.
