First Creek Wines are situated in the Hunter Valley, NSW and have been crafting wines of exceptional regional quality since 1996. The talented and highly acclaimed team of winemakers at First Creek are led by Liz Jackson and Greg Silkman and ensure relentless attention to detail in the winemaking process. First Creek aim to show the great diversity of wine styles from the Hunter Valley as well as examples from other wine regions.
What is First Creek’s philosophy?
Our passion is Semillon, as it truly is a Hunter icon. We love it for its versatility and longevity. At First Creek our philosophy is to allow the vineyard to govern the wine and hence the most important aspect is the fruit. If we get it right in the vineyard, all the winery needs to do is nurture it and let the varietal characters shine. Our second passion is Chardonnay, which is a wine that consistently does well here at First Creek, including selection within James Halliday’s Top Chardonnays in Australia. As a specialised winemaking centre, we are fortunate that we have access to some great fruit, as well as interesting varieties each vintage, so are able to create both classic Hunter and regional styles, and also experiment with new and emerging varieties to give our customers some variety.
