Moorebank is a family vineyard estate that Debra Moore & Ian Burgess created in 1986, as 5th generation wine & grape producers. Ian & Debra named some of the wines after their five children, all of whom work in the wine industry.
The Moorebank children are fundamental to the ongoing success of the estate - from the vineyard & wine stylisation, to the cellar door, social networking & the VIP wine club, along with keeping an eye on “Sheila” the famous pet black sheep who is known for being a little naughty (somewhat like Ian) & for being named after our signature red, the “Sheila” Black Sheep Shiraz.
Moorebank produce a whole range of wine inspired, organically grown condiments along with a fresh handmade Lemonade. Although the recent release of their 20 yr aged Balsamic Red wine vinegar has been special, particularly the parcel that was made into Caramelised Balsamic Vino Glaze.
Debra, what are some of the things Moorebank is best known for?
Moorebank has a good reputation for Merlot & Chardonnay however the Spicy Grape Sauce & Spice Pickled Grapes with Semillon create a real following not to mention the fresh handmade Lemonade.
Debra, what do you think is your greatest achievement?
I would have to say that my greatest achievement would have to be my children, closely followed by owning a vineyard, which is why I have named some of our wines after them. Along with enormous satisfaction being derived from meeting some really interesting people within cellar door & having so many of them passing comment of how many wines they enjoy from our whole range.
Did you know...
Moorebank Estate is home to their famous pet sheep "Sheila", who goes walking around the vineyard each afternoon with Ian & Debra.
