Alejandro Montepulciano 2014

As it is in its Italian home, the fruit for this South Australian Montepulciano was left on the vine until the last possible moment, resulting in beautifully ripe fruit that was crafted into a Gold medal winner.
 
In the glass: Quite dense deep red black.
On the nose: The whole package of black fruit with strong hints of tar and roses.
On the palate: A lovely energetic fruit core with cherry pit intensity plus savoury red and black olive notes. Presents a lively, fresh and astringent frame with some tannic grip ensuring a stint in the cellar will see further development.
