Reflecting Ben O’Donoghue’s laidback style, this Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris doesn’t overpower but being moreish and savoury, it’s the perfect food wine.
Pinot Gris is a relatively new discovery for Australia. To be appreciated the variety should be enjoyed with food, which is why this wine was chosen. The colour is pale straw with a slight bronze tint. The nose displays citrus blossom and pear nectar. The palate is robust and powerful with the same fresh fruit, but as is typical in the best Pinot Gris, the palate is soft and refreshing. The wine finishes savoury, harking back to the variety’s old world Alsatian roots.
