Chestnut Grove Small Parcel Merlot 2013

Chestnut Grove says that Manjimup is ideal for growing Merlot thanks to its temperate ripening conditions and deep gravelly loam soils. This small parcel example comes from a small block identified for special treatment in the winery.
 
This youthful Merlot is red to purple in the glass with lifted dark plum, violet and olive aromas and a hint of graphite. Medium weight yet fleshy and juicy, the palate has loads of dark berry and plum fruit, fresh acidity and a touch of regional dried herb on the vibrant finish.
