Claymore Wines gave Wine Selectors’ members the unique opportunity to name their limited release Cabernet Malbec 2012 - the result was the timeless classic, House of the Rising Sun. Add this Wine Selectors exclusive to your playlist today.
“Any names that grace Claymore Wines’ labels have to come from the winery owner, Anura Nitchtingham’s record collection and by default the labels we reference do tend to be classics. They have longevity, you still hear them, they get airplay on the radio, people recognise the references on the labels from their own personal experience and House of the Rising Sun is certainly one of those,” explains Carissa Major, Claymore Wines’ Sales and Marketing Manager.
Deep, dark red in the glass, the Claymore House of the Rising Sun Cabernet Malbec 2012 opens with masses of dark berry and plum fruit with notes of dried herb and mint on the nose. Concentrated cassis and mulberry fruit feature through the varietal and intensely flavoursome palate with a classic regional acid backbone and fine tannin grip, and barely perceptible toasty oak adding a savoury finish. Deliciously drinkable now, but will age well for years to come.
