Clonakilla Shiraz 2012

Thankfully the team at Clonakilla were able to pick their Shiraz grapes before the great rains of the 2012 vintage hit, resulting in this beautifully regional Hilltops red.
 
Bright, medium red in the glass, it features classic cool climate black pepper spice lift, dark cherry and notes of cedar and cigar box on the nose. The palate is medium weight and spicy with layers of dark berry and plum fruit, some leaf litter and dried herb complexity, fine tannins and subtle oak in support.
