Crittenden Estate is owned and operated by Garry and Rollo Crittenden, and this Fumé Blanc, a dry-style, barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc, reflects their commitment to creating inspirational wines.
The hand harvested fruit for this Fumé Blanc was whole-bunch pressed. Natural ferment was allowed to start spontaneously in small and medium sized barrels with a high degree of solids and no temperature control. The wine was then rested on lees in the same barrels and the lees periodically stirred to increase complexity and enhance mouthfeel.
Winemaker Rollo Crittenden presents a wine with lifted, toasty aromas over restrained tropical and stonefruit notes. Plush, peachy, juicy and rich yet balanced, the palate has a zesty, lemony freshness with terrific texture enhanced by classy oak support and elegant line and length.
