David Hook Reserve Merlot 2012

Winemaker and owner David Hook aims to produce, ‘wines with outstanding regional and varietal characteristics that reflect their place of origin and the vintage.’ This Reserve Merlot certainly does that with its rich fruit core and savoury balance.
 
Medium red in the glass, this Merlot has an elegant nose showing plum and red fruits with hints of licorice and fruit tea. Medium weight and vibrant, it has juicy layers of plummy fruit balanced by racy acidity and leafy tannins. It’s quite bright and elegant with grassy varietal notes on the supple finish.
