Forest Hill Vineyard Estate Chardonnay 2011

One of Australia’s long standing favorites receives the Forest Hill star treatment, resulting in a 2011 Chardonnay that’s rich and ripe with pristine fruit flavors.
 
Forest Hill is Western Australia’s oldest cool climate vineyard and was established in 1964. The fruit for their 2011 Chardonnay was hand-picked in pristine condition, whole bunch pressed, then fermented and matured in Burgundian oak with regular lees stirring. Malolactic fermentation was not carried out so the vibrant natural acidity would be preserved.
 
The resulting wine is a lemon to straw colour in the glass with a slight green tint. The complex nose is very oak-driven and quite nutty with powerful French vanilla aromas. It’s ripe and rich with pristine fruit flavours, focussed acidity and a cashew-like complexity on the long finish.
