Galli Estate was the vision of Tuscan born Lorenzo Galli who came to Australia in the 1950s. Though based at Sunbury, the family also has a vineyard at Heathcote, from which this wine was sourced.
Grapes were crushed into open and closed fermenters for primary fermentation. The grapes were then pressed and the juice transferred to French oak for 12 months maturation prior to bottling.
Winemaker Ben Ranken has made a wine with blackberry, sweet spice, pepper and earth aromas. The well structured palate has a solid core of developing red fruits backed by well balanced acidity, rustic white pepper notes and quality supporting oak.
