Galli Estate’s Lorenzo Shiraz is named after their founder, Lorenzo Galli, who brought his family winemaking heritage from Italy to Australia in the 1950s. It’s a very regional red that reflects the rich red volcanic soils of Sunbury.
Fruit for this Sunbury Shiraz made by Ben Ranken was crushed and fermented into stainless steel open vats. Each fermenter was plunged 2-3 times per day with an extended post ferment maceration time of 2 weeks. Matured in French oak barriques, 20% new, for 14 months.
Deep garnet in the glass, it delivers savoury black fruit, earth, leaf litter and new leather aromas. The palate is showing some lovely development with red currant and plum fruit flavours and powerful pepper and earth notes. Very regional with ageing notes of leather and cedar, fine tannins and savoury length.
