The tiny Champagne house of Gatinois is located in Aÿ, a small but, in Champagne circles at least, a very significant village at the foot of the Montagne de Reims, one of Champagne’s four main vineyard regions. The Gatinois family have been winemakers in Aÿ since 1696 and own 29 pieces of land in Aÿ with a total area of 7 hectares.
Beautiful pale bronze in colour with enticing aromas of bruised apple and marzipan that leap out the glass. Beautifully bottle aged palate that is complex, regal and poised with an excellent depth of flavour. It’s muscular and rustic with intense jasmine and wild honey notes. It finishes long, balanced and savoury.
