Festive gatherings aren't perfect without an award-winning Aussie Shiraz or two. Savour these stunners from Hex & Heysen, Colab and Bloom, and Eldredge for just $16 a bottle.
A 2 x Gold medal winner, the Colab and Bloom Shiraz 2017 was made by Mike Farmilo who is Jimmy Watson Trophy winner and former winemaker of Penfold’s Grange. It’s medium to full-bodied with good varietal depth showing as sweet black fruit and lovely peppery spice with a fine tannin foundation and a long earthy finish.
A Gold medal-winner from the Barossa Valley, the Hex & Heysen Shiraz 2015 is ripe, juicy and fleshy yet with restraint and elegance. It shows sweet curranty fruit, toasty oak, five spice and dried herb, good structure and fine acidity.
Crafted from Clare Valley fruit, the Eldredge Boundary Shiraz 2017 has a small percentage of Cabernet blended in to add structure and length. It’s dense, ripe and youthful with a solid core of blue and black fruits combining nicely with savoury oak. Supple and flavoursome with potential to improve further with patience.
