Hugh Hamilton says “Merlot’s inherent unpredictability is sufficient reason for calling it ‘The Ratbag’” – but the Tasting Panel thinks they’ve succeeded in taming it into a beautifully balanced drop.
Full red black in colour, it has a rich, spicy nose with black fruit compote, dried herb notes and simmering alcohol warmth. Rich and intense, the palate has a solid core of black fruit, cherry and plum power, with tight yet well balanced tannins – will cellar well.
