A case of mistaken identity saw this savoury, textural dry white variety named Albariño for some years here in Australia.
Now known by its correct name, and not related in any way to Sauvignon Blanc, this Irvine Springhill Savagnin 2011 shows subtle aromatics, generous pear and lemon fruit on the palate, and tangy acidity to finish. A delicious alternative to the mainstream varieties.
