Mid-week Heroes Mixed Dozen

Varietal
Mixed Red and White
Region
Australia multi-regional

Take mid-week from moderately interesting to absolutely exciting with these top-quality wines. Including a 4 x Gold medal-winning Robert Oatley Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon, a 3 x Gold medal-winning Yalumba Viognier, a Patrick Riesling that’s won Gold, plus more marvellous drops, it’s incredible value at just $14.50 a bottle.

Chosen by Tasting Panellist Trent Mannell as his ‘Hero of the Pack’, the Keith Tulloch Pinot Shiraz 2016 is a delicious blend of Tumbarumba Pinot Noir (84%) and Hunter Valley Shiraz (16%). It’s medium to full-bodied with plum and blackberry fruit flavours, firm dry tannin structure, tangy acidity and good length.

Yalumba, and winemaker Louisa Rose have been championing Viognier for the past 25 years, and produce strongly varietal styles like their 3 x Trophy-winning 2017 Samuel's Garden Collection expression. The palate shows spicy stonefruit and melon with touches of pineapple, mango, cashew, vanilla and wild herb. Fragrant, fresh and well balanced.

The Robert Oatley Signature Series Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 has picked up Gold medals at the Sydney International Top 100, as well as the 2018 Brisbane, Adelaide and Cowra Wine Shows. The palate is bold and rich with a deep core of black fruit, subtle varietal mint and herb notes, fine yet assertive tannins, bright acidity and a powerful finish. A sleeping giant with liquorice-like concentration.
