Shiraz you all know well. Mataro you may not. It hails from France’s southern Rhône Valley, where it’s knon as Mourvèdre, and loves the sunshine and heat, which is why it does so well in the Barossa.
In the glass: Deep red black – so dense.
On the nose: Rich with inky black cherry cola, anise, cocoa powder and charry oak.
On the palate: High-octane with a deep core of black cherry and currant, earthy complexity and firm yet smooth tannins.
