This week Chris Barnes presents his Standout Selection white 6-pack - a delicious collection of exciting whites perfect for spring entertaining. Yours with savings of $59.
As always, every wine in this selection is a premium pick, but here are some highlights that will make planning your next lunch get-together a breeze.
The fresh young Patrick Estate Grown Riesling 2012 abounds in aromas of bright lime juice with hints of musk. Lime juice and lemon zest flavours feature on the tight palate and works wonderfully with seafood dishes like five spice fried squid with hot and sour sauce.
A terrific food wine, the cool climate Lisa McGuigan Pinot Gris 2012 opens with pear, quince and light floral aromas. It’s very clean with lovely palate weight, a good core of appealing pear fruit and savoury, almost salty length. Try it with grilled haloumi with endive, beetroot and pine nuts.
Pale straw in the glass, the Evans & Tate Metricup Road Sauvignon Blanc 2011 exudes herb, citrus and tropical aromas. The palate is ripe, soft and full flavoured with a juicy core of rich tropicals and a textural mouthfeel. A lovely accompaniment to a tomato, bocconcini and basil salad.
Some very agreeable wines to share with great company at just $19 a bottle.
