Although traditionally better-known for its Cabernet, Margaret River also produces excellent Shiraz, and this one from Thompson Estate is a great example.
Dark red to purple. Wood smoke, dried herbs, liquorice, plum and blackberry aromas. Deep, dark and concentrated with a generous mix of peppery black fruit, touches of earth and anise, fine yet rich tannins and well-judged savoury oak.
