A Le Creuset Love Affair
A hundred years of making delicious memories with Le Creuset.
The year is 1925. The place, Fresnoy-le-Grand, two hours north of Paris. Two Belgian industrialists, Armand De Saegher and Octave Aubecq - the former an expert in casting, the latter an enamelling specialist - are about to embark on an enterprise that will forever shape the world of home and professional cooking alike.
Following their first meeting at the recent Brussels Fair, De Saegher and Aubecq believe they have 'cracked the code' to enamelling cast iron: a key that promises to unlock colour in casserole cookware, and bring life into people's kitchens. Together, following a successful prototype, they open a foundry in Fresnoy-le-Grand.
Situated at the crossroads of trade and transportation routes for high quality iron, coke, and sand, the foundry couldn't be more perfectly located. The factory roars to life: molten iron pours into the foundry moulds, fiery orange rivers shaped into perfect forms, the elements tamed. From these fires of creation, Le Creuset and its signature colour, Volcanic, are born.
A hundred years on, the light of Le Creuset's industrial genius has not dimmed in the slightest. Rather, it has burned ever brighter, attracting through the years adoration and respect in equal measure. So revered is its union of form and function, so adored is its design, so central to the earliest memories of countless family kitchens, the Signature Le Creuset Casserole has proven itself a true icon of the modern age.
KEEPERS OF THE FLAME
To celebrate its centenary, Le Creuset has paid tribute to its original star, the Volcanic, with a limited-edition colourway across its Signature Casserole range that demonstrates its deep understanding of the balance between heritage and innovation: Flamme Dorée. A reimagining of the company's eternal flame, the fiery hues now lightly sparkling with real gold to create an alluring sheen, it's a true feast for the eyes.
In addition to the shining new hue, the range is further set apart by a reimagined crucible knob. A knowing nod to Le Creuset's globally recognised 'three-rings', it's an instantly iconic capstone. Shaped from sleek stainless steel, lightly finished with gold, it's both familiar and novel: a statement of style, but also of an enduring commitment to material quality.
From the Signature Round Casserole - ideal for everyday use from stove to oven to table - to the Signature Oval Casserole (perfect for larger cuts of meat and whole chickens) and the Signature Shallow Casserole (just the thing for shallow frying, steaming, stews and table-serving), the new Flamme Dorée instantly elevates the craft of home cooking to genuine art.
No food lover's home should be without Le Creuset - for marking occasions both special and commonplace with favourite dishes, there's no substitute. Enflame your passion for cooking with the Flamme Dorée, and start your legacy today.
