The right zone for optimal food care
Fisher & Paykel’s Variable Temperature Zones provide a new level of cooling flexibility to suit how you shop, cook and entertain.
Once you’ve purchased the perfect cut of lamb to create Lyndey Milan’s recipes, you need to make sure it stays market fresh. The Fisher & Paykel Integrated Column Refrigerators & Freezers are beautifully designed and feature Variable Temperature Zone technology. The customisable modes allow you to keep your meat in its prime, whether you’re enjoying it soon, or storing it longer term.
meat that’s ready to eat
Stored in the Variable Temperature Zone on Chill Mode, red meat can last up to three times longer than it will at regular refrigerator temperature. Chill Mode sets the compartment at a cooler temperature that is ideal for fresh meats, poultry and fish, keeping them at a temperature as close to freezing as possible to retain their vital freshness.
next week’s meals
To store meat longer than a few days, the Variable Temperature Zone on Soft Freeze mode is ideal. It allows easy portioning and the ability to heat, cook or serve straight from the compartment without waiting a long time for it to thaw.
Planning well ahead
At the other end of the spectrum, the Variable Temperature Zone on Deep Freeze Mode allows food to be stored for months with temperatures that halt bacterial activity. Preserving food for a long time is only a benefit if it retains its quality once thawed. During the freezing process, ice crystals form within the food’s cells, expanding and moving to the surface. This draws moisture out of the food, which is lost as the moisture evaporates during thawing. Freezing food quickly keeps ice crystals as small as possible, protecting the quality of the food you freeze and defrost. When you store meat longer term in the freezer, the Fast Freeze function, activated two hours pre-freezing, helps retain quality.
