What's On in October 2019

Grab some wine-loving friends and head out for fun times at delicious dinners, masterclasses, festivals and so much more!

Join us for this special dinner at Brisbane’s e’cco bistro as we showcase three great South Australian wine regions – Langhorne Creek, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills – through the expression of three specific wineries – Angas & Bremer, Gomersal and Chain of Ponds.

Explore the influential character of these unique regions through their landscape, people, and - of course - wines, from the crisp and vibrant Black Thursday from Chain of Ponds to the spice, chocolate and soft tannins of the Gomersal Premium Shiraz, the perfectly balanced Angas & Bremer Malbec and more – all matched to the extraordinary flavours of e’cco bistro’s renowned chef Philip Johnson.

You’ll also get to meet the winemakers with host Selector’s Paul Diamond, rounding out an evening of character and taste. It’s an experience that will leave an impression on your senses. Seats are limited.

McWilliam’s DINNER Stories | Melbourne | 24 Oct

Selector Magazine and the McWilliam’s family invite you to join us at one of Melbourne’s best kept Italian secrets, Bottega, this October. It’s a rare treat to dine on four delicious courses, taste exceptional wines and hear the incredible stories of one of Australia’s most iconic winemaking families.

Throughout the years, McWilliam’s has carefully selected a rich portfolio of premium New South Wales vineyards located in the cool climate regions of Hilltops, Tumbarumba, Canberra, and the expansive plains of the Riverina. These wines showcase regional specific characters, premium quality, impressive depth and full flavour expression.

The wines made by McWilliam’s are more than just benchmark expressions of Australian winemaking. They are wines that tell a story of a family’s passion for winemaking and draw on more than 140 years of experience.

At this exclusive event, you’ll get to taste and experience firsthand their latest ranges and styles that will shape the future of Australia’s wine landscape. Hosted by Selector’s Paul Diamond and Chief Winemaker Andrew Higgins - this is a night not to be missed!

Flavours of Sound Masterclass | SYDNEY | 31 Oct

Did you know you can eat with your ears? This unique masterclass will change the way you experience wine, food and sound.

Just as music can have an effect on our emotions, it can have a dramatic influence on how we experience taste, texture and flavour. Heston Blumenthal famously demonstrated this in 2007 with his ‘Sounds of the Sea’ dish – a selection of raw seafood, foamed salt water and shore foraged elements served with headphones that delivered seascape sound. The result was dramatic, with diners reviewing the experience as spectacular thanks to the amazing way the sound enhanced the flavours and aromas.

Join Sennheiser and Selector magazine for a very special masterclass experience that blends cutting edge sound technology, music and wine to explore the boundaries of sound and flavour. Held at Sennheiser’s flagship store in the Sydney CBD, the class will be from 5.30pm-8.30pm and features wine tastings and canapés.

Only a limited number of seats are available.
