Wine House Hunter Valley

When you embark on a tasting tour of the Hunter Valley, it’s tough to know where to start. Australia’s oldest wine region is home to over 150 wineries, offering a huge choice to taste and explore.

That’s why a collection of like-minded Hunter Valley winemakers got together to showcase their wines under one roof at the Wine House

Located in the heart of Pokolbin, the Wine House offers an experience that’s unique within this special region. There are over 40 wines to try by the glass and 70 by the bottle, and the passionate staff will personalise the experience to suit your tastes.

Through their tasting bar, wine lounge and events, the Wine House features over 20 Hunter Valley winemakers including Little Wine Co, Silkman, Hart & Hunter, David Hook, Margan Wines, Keith Tulloch, Allandale, First Creek, Mount Pleasant De Iuliis, Brokenwood, Tyrrell’s, Peppertree, Dirt Candy, Winmark, Carillion Wines and Mercer Wines.

Find a new favourite

If you’re in the region to sample its famous varieties, the Wine House will open your senses to the diversity on offer.

As owner Suzanne Little describes, “We are the only place where you can line up a bracket of say, four Hunter Valley Semillon, Shiraz or Chardonnay from four different winemakers to show how they differ stylistically.”

Or if your tastes are more eclectic, there’s a choice for you too. “We can also present guests with a bracket of emerging varieties such as Albarino, Vermentino, Fiano, Nebbiolo and Barbera (and soon Pecorino!),” Suzanne explains, “to show the cutting edge side of Hunter Valley winemaking.”

Perhaps you’re yet to discover the Hunter Valley wine style you really love. The Wine House can help there too, Suzanne says. “We do a lot of ‘blind’ wine tastings so that guests can really find out what wines they like rather than what they think they are supposed to like.”

Choose your wine adventure

To help you discover your new favourite wine, or to expand your sensory horizons, the Wine House hosts a range of premium experiences to choose from. “The Hunter Discovery Tasting is designed for guests who are just discovering the Hunter,” Suzanne describes. “While the Icon Tasting allows guests to enjoy a self-guided tasting in the Enomatic Lounge with an optional grazing board.”

For a specially curated experience, the Cocoa Nib Chocolate & Wine Tasting pairs four amazing handmade Cocoa Nib chocolate bon bons with four premium tier wines. Then there’s the Wine House Graze Experience, which combines wine and food with a light lunch grazing board and wines by the glass, bottle, or a wine flight.

For the ultimate experience, Suzanne says, “The Grand Sensory Adventure takes wine tasting to the next level with a complimentary glass of sparkling upon arrival, a flight of four super-premium wines tailored to your personal taste served with a selection of canapés prepared by Wine House’s chef, and a host on hand to guide your wine journey and answer all of your questions.”

Lastly, the new Barrel & Blend Experience allows guests, Suzanne explains, “to be winemaker for the day, tasting from barrel and creating their own unique wine blend.”

Or if you’re visiting in June, book in for the Grange vs the Hunter event where Penfold’s Grange is pitted against three Hunter Valley icons.

And once you’ve enjoyed your Wine House experience, the friendly staff are on hand to tell you all the best cellar doors to go to next!
