Wine with Meg and Mel

This duo from Rob Dolan Wines brings their favourite topic to life in a fun and frank podcast. 

To become a Master of Wine (MW), you have to have some seriously impressive wine knowledge. But that doesn’t mean you have to be a wine bore. Not according to Rob Dolan’s long-time friend and Master of Wine Meg Brodtmann.  

Having become Australia’s first female MW in 2002, Meg’s list of achievements is certainly masterly. From winning the Deinhard Award for Best Dissertation from the Institute of Masters of Wine to being Chair of the International Cool Climate Wine Show for five years, to name just two. 

Yet Meg remains passionately committed to helping the novice wine lover navigate the world of wine. That’s why she, along with Rob Dolan’s Marketing and Communications Manager (and self-titled Master of Sabrage) Mel Gilcrist, started a podcast, Wine with Meg and Mel.

Each 20-minute episode, available on Apple and Spotify, either features a varietal, or covers a hot topic.

The varietal episodes see Meg and Mel discussing and tasting the top varieties from the top regions in both Australia and overseas. They reveal the most delicious food pairings for the varietal, as well as what you should expect to spend on a good bottle and how to choose the best examples. 

When you tune into a ‘topic’ episode, you might get the lowdown on clean wine, learn how to create mouth-watering food and wine matches, or even discover how to get through a day of wine tasting without feeling like an idiot! 

Every episode, Mel also finds out what Meg’s been drinking in the hope she’ll inspire you to try something new. Plus, Meg is bursting with fun wine facts – for instance, did you know that in Italy, there’s a fountain flowing with free wine?!

But it’s listeners who get the last word, with Meg and Mel often helping them out of tricky situations like – “I lied and told my girlfriend’s dad I’m into wine, now he’s invited me to dinner and asked me to bring a bottle – what do I bring?”
