Crafted in a method dating back to 1900s, this wine was made from a blend of 50% Shiraz, 26% Mondeuse, and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon fruit sourced from the Milawa Vineyard. Following fermentation the wine spent almost two years in 19% new American puncheons and barriques, the balance in one and two year old oak.
It opens with delicious aromas of milk chocolate, espresso, tobacco, black fruit and toasty oak.
A big wine, it’s rich in personality and very mouth-coating, showing great balance between depth of flavour and fine, persistent tannins. Time in bottle has unearthed an opulent mix of black fruit and secondary notes.
