Winemaker Joe Grilli sees Nebbiolo as “the ultimate winemaking challenge” but when you sample this beautiful 2010 vintage from their top tier Joseph range you’ll see that he’s well and truly surpassed the test!
Joe Grilli also famously said, “The soul of a red wine is released where air meets the fermenting skins.” This wine was crafted from hand picked fruit that was crushed directly into traditional open topped fermenters then manually pumped over. Open topped concrete fermenters are at the heart of the ‘Joseph’ red wine style.
Light to medium red in the glass, this gem opens with earthy blackberry, Turkish delight, spice and lifted cedary aromatics. The juicy, plush and sweet core of dark fruit also showcases charcuterie notes, spice and olives with soft, ripe tannins. It’s mouth-watering and elegant with good persistence and light, savoury oak in support.
