Robertson of Clare Max V Cabernet Blend 2012

In this outstanding Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, winemakers Simon Gilbert and Leigh Eldredge used fruit from specific Clare Valley sites that best reflect the characteristics of each variety.
 
35% of the grapes were barrel fermented, while the balance went into open top slate fermenters. The wine was then racked and returned to new French oak for 18 months.
 
Rich dark berry, currant, prune and cedary oak aromas lead to a full bodied palate with a tight core of dark fruit, cedar, licorice, soy sauce and currants. A powerful yet elegant wine with balanced acids and tannins.
