Shottesbrooke Merlot 2011

The family-owned boutique Shottesbrooke first planted their Merlot vines to blend with Cabernet, but soon realised that the soils and climate of McLaren Vale were perfect to create beautiful standalone expressions.
 
This medium to dark red coloured Merlot appeals with a perfumed mix of leafy red fruit, plum and cassis aromas. It has a spicy, racy palate with a rich core of curranty fruit flavours and cedary oak in support. Medium-bodied yet generous with regional licorice, ripe tannins and savoury length.
