Australian Wine Selectors Pty Ltd (ABN 64 056 402 772) (“Wine Selectors”, "we", "us", or "our") values your privacy and follows strict guidelines to ensure it is protected. This Privacy Policy sets out how Wine Selectors collects, uses, manages and discloses your personal information. It also sets out some of your privacy rights in relation to personal information and advises how you can contact us with privacy queries.

Wine Selectors is subject to, and abides by, the provisions of the Privacy Act 1988 (“Privacy Act”), including the Australian Privacy Principles (“APPs”). In addition to its privacy obligations, Wine Selectors is also a member of the Australian Direct Marketing Association (“ADMA”) and abides by its Code of Practice.

What types of personal information does Wine Selectors collect?

The personal information Wine Selectors collects from you generally includes your name, date of birth, email address, address, telephone number/s and information required for order processing and payment (such as debit or credit card numbers or banking details). Wine Selectors may also collect information from you concerning your preferred wine type/s or other information related to Wine Selectors products or services, in order to provide you with the best service experience possible.

We aim only to collect personal information that is necessary to carry on our business and to supply you with the goods and/or services that you have contracted or requested us to provide.  However, we may also collect information about you to do internal research and to conduct market research for our own purposes.

We do not collect sensitive personal information other than credit card and banking details in order to procure payment for goods or services you request, however such financial information will be treated in a different manner to the rest of your personal information, as detailed below.

 

How does Wine Selectors collect your personal information?

Wine Selectors collects personal information from you in a variety of ways, being when you knowingly provide it to us, such as: when you join Wine Selectors as a member; when you contact a Wine Selectors Sales Consultant or member of the Wine Selectors Customer Service team over the telephone or by email; when you provide information via the Wine Selectors website; when you participate in competitions, complete surveys and questionnaires; and when you attend in-person Wine Selectors or related events and functions.

While we endeavour to only collect personal information from you directly, we may also collect information from sources that you may be unaware of including third parties (such as via contractors on our behalf or our internet service provider), personal interactions with our employees and electronic information from email or the Internet.

 

What happens if you don't provide Wine Selectors with the personal information it requires?

If you can't or won't provide Wine Selectors with the personal information it reasonably requires, Wine Selectors may be unable to provide you with the information, products or services you wish to buy or receive.

We do not use or disclose personal information on public Artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms. We do not permit personal information to be used or disclosed on public Generative AI platforms.  We also do not use or disclose personal information for automated decision-making purposes.

 

Will Wine Selectors give your personal information to anyone else?

Wine Selectors will generally only disclose your personal information if the disclosure is necessary to answer your enquiry or request, to supply you with the goods and/or services requested, or to complete the services we provide. We may disclose your personal information to contractors or other third parties:

  1. To allow your orders to be processed and delivered to you;
  2. To provide you with marketing and other information about Wine Selectors and its own or related products and services;
  3. Where we have sought your consent or as is otherwise required or permitted by law;
  4. Personal information security

Wine Selectors has implemented security systems and physical, electronic and managerial procedures to protect the personal information entrusted to us from risks such as loss, unauthorised access or use, destruction, modification or disclosure.

We offer the use of secure server software (SSL) when collecting personal information which encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. Confidential information, such as your address, credit card details and order history, is not stored on the web server but on our own database, which is protected against unauthorised access and administered in accordance with this policy.

Any information that we no longer use for the purposes contained in this policy is destroyed.  The exception to this may be information required for possible data analysis at a future date, or information we are legally required or advised to hold for specific time periods.  Wherever practicable subject to the above, the information will be retained in a form that does not allow you to be identified.

When we have collected information about you it cannot be seen or modified by anyone other than those authorised to access the information for the purposes stated above.  We will endeavour to make reasonable efforts to ensure information is stored securely both in electronic and physical forms and to keep this information accurate, up to date, complete and relevant. We ensure only those necessary have access to your personal information.  We utilise systems, services and third party platforms to manage and store your personal information that are located outside of Australia. However, we will never lose effective control of your personal information other than as detailed in this Privacy Policy.

We also use reasonable efforts to meet payment card industry guidelines for remote web server vulnerability testing to help protect your personal information from hackers.

Our website security measures do not mean the website is hacker proof and our security measures cannot and do not protect any of your data that may be shared with other servers that are not secure, such as credit card processing networks or offline data storage, nor does it protect you from other ways your data may be illegally obtained.

 

Your rights of access and correction

We encourage you to keep your personal information accurate, complete and up to date. If any information we hold about you is incorrect or incomplete, please notify us and we will promptly correct it as soon as possible.

Where the disclosure of information to you is restricted by law, is the subject of legal action, or may compromise the privacy of another person, Wine Selectors may be required to withhold your personal information, in which case we will provide reasons why we have refused your request.

 

Information contained in joint Wine Selectors memberships

If your Wine Selectors membership contains the personal information of more than one person, unless you provide Wine Selectors with evidence that the other person/s agrees to you accessing their personal information, Wine Selectors can only allow you to access your own personal information contained in that membership.
