Montepulciano comes in all shapes and sizes, but the Naughty Monte by Woodstock 2021 is one of the best fuller-bodied styles we have seen. It’s deep, brooding, and perfect for any lover of rich reds, displaying plenty of black and purple fruit, fine and savoury tannins, and notes of anise, black tea and tobacco on the generous finish. It has been expertly paired in this collection with the Welland Valley & Valley Shiraz 2022. Deeply flavoured, it features lashings of dark fruit and oak, peppery tannins, deeper notes of black olive and liquorice, and a long, decadent finish.
 
Wrattonbully is located north of Coonawarra where the elevation is slightly higher and the temperature slightly warmer. It is well-suited to varieties like Malbec. The Empress Joanna Vineyard Malbec 2022 features a soft and savoury entry with appealing layers of fleshy purple fruit, racy acidity, good depth and length, and a well-balanced finish. It has been paired in this collection with the Three Elms Timbertops Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, a powerful style with deep black fruit saturation throughout, notes of mocha and crushed leaf, muscular chalky tannins and supporting savoury oak.
