Fruit for this blend comes from the Beaurepaire Ridge vineyard, which is in the Mudgee region but is just outside the historic town of Rylstone, so is significantly higher and therefore cooler. It was made in the traditional style in small open-top fermenters and matured in a mix of new and used French and American oak. Co-fermentation with a small proportion of Viognier gives added aromatic lift and a smoother, more textural palate.
Medium red/black in colour, it features sweet, lifted aromas of red fruits and a hint of citrus. Its soft, juicy palate is driven by black cherry and blood plum richness with silken tannins to finish.
