Using fruit picked at the optimum point of Botrytis infection and presenting great Barossa Valley terroir, this medium-bodied sticky is rich, fruity and delectably sweet.
Continuing their proud history of producing wonderful dessert wines, this 2011 sticky is from Elderton’s first vintage using fruit from their newly acquired Barossa Valley vineyards. Winemaker Richard Langford crushed two parcels of fruit and held the juice on skins to help extract the flavours from the desiccated berries before pressing, followed by a long and slow fermentation. The result is a Botrytis Semillon, which is medium gold in the glass with complex, lifted toffee and marmalade aromas. The palate is held together by fresh acidity and has lovely layers of toffee, marmalade and juicy citrus. It has a delightful twist of ginger, leading to a long, persistent finish.
