A brilliant blend of 73% Shiraz accompanied by 24% Grenache and 3% Mourvèdre, the Bleasdale The Wild Fig SGM 2018 was crafted from a number of vineyards in Langhorne Creek, including some Bleasdale’s beautiful old Grenache and Shiraz vines.
Along with clenching the Jimmy Watson, it was also awarded an additional Trophy and Gold at the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards, plus it won Gold at the 2019 Royal Perth Wine Show.
It opens with deliciously ripe cherry and raspberry perfume with hints of confectionary and earth. The palate is supple and ‘slurpable’ with sweet cherry and plum fruit, candied peel and five spice notes. It’s youthful and soft with great ageing potential.
“This is only our second year producing The Wild Fig SGM. It was made using simple winemaking techniques, utilising older puncheons and some tank maturation to maintain freshness and vitality in the wine. And while it’s different to other wines in our portfolio, this experimental blend pulled through and delivered a result that we had previously only ever dreamed of,” says winning winemaker Paul Hotker.
Get in quick! With savings of $72 and with only 10 dozens of this much sought-after winner on offer, it will sell out at lightning speed.
