This pack is the Perfect Pizza, Pasta & Noodles red dozen, because, after all, even pizza deserves to be matched with great wine too!
The Trophy and Gold medal-winning Terra Felix Shiraz Viognier 2008 is just the wine to enjoy with a gourmet pizza. Vibrant red to purple in colour it has intense sweet plum and perfumed, peppery spice aromas. The palate is medium weight and quite elegant with a lovely berry softness and a fragrant lift from the Viognier.
From fourth generation winemaker, Keith Tulloch, the La Ripetta Cabernet Merlot Petit Verdot 2010 will bring out the best in pasta dishes. This dark hued blend of Hunter Cabernet, Hilltops Merlot and Barossa Petit Verdot is alive with blood plum, olive and dark fruit aromas. Its ripe palate is saturated with dense black fruits and displays terrific weight and texture.
For spicy Asian noodles try the Forester Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2011. Carefully selected parcels of fruit were combined to craft this bright, deep red hued wine with sweet cassis, currant and herb aromas lifting from the glass. It’s full, ripe and juicy yet still elegant with regional and varietal signatures, plush tannins and sweet, dark fruit persistence.
The juicy and supple Lou Miranda Estate Leone Cabernet Shiraz 2010 also pairs well with Asian dishes. Shiraz is effectively used to fill out the mid-palate of this wine. Enticing aromas of red berries, violets and spice lead to a soft and juicy palate featuring blood plums, raspberries and a touch of jube-like confectionary. There are supple tannins on the long finish.
The Mount Trio Cabernet Merlot 2011 appeals with its rich, savoury core of spicy black fruit over classic Great Southern regional capsicum and herb characters and youthful tannins. Bring out its best by pairing it with prosciutto sage lamb cutlets with pea and tomato spaghetti.
