The Virgil Chardonnay 2022 comes from an award-winning boutique, Hunter Valley vineyard, and was made by PJ. It’s medium-bodied and very flavoursome, with ripe layers of melon and peach, hints of almond meal and shortbread, and lovely toasty oak.
From the Barossa, the Red Deer Station 50 Shiraz 2018 was described by the Tasting Panel as “a cracking regional wine.” It’s a gentle, medium-weight style with satiny black fruits delivering super-ripe cherry and liquorice, velvety tannins, and chocolatey oak.
