Alex Beckett is a Hunter Valley quiet achiever, and has been making some superb wines at Briar Ridge for a number of years, like this very regional medium-bodied Shiraz.
Deep red to purple. Lovely mix of red and black cherry over clove, white pepper, anise and dried herbs. Shows a juicy core of red and black fruits, satin-soft yet savoury tannins, fresh acidity, and classy oak in harmony with the spicy fruit.
