Delma Coulson has been with Inspiring Journeys since 2015, having spent years as a guide at Uluru. “The Red Centre is such a sacred, special place, but I love travelling all around Australia,” she says. “As a Journey Director, I have the privilege of showcasing our beautiful backyards to travellers from Australia and all around the world – unforgettable memories, moments connecting with local people, new flavours to indulge in, and extraordinary places to visit.”

She also happens to have a soft spot for South Australia, and is one of the key Journey Directors for one of Inspiring Journeys most enticing itineraries: the Flavours of South Australia experience. Over five days, guests get to experience the very best Australia’s Wine State has to offer, exploring Adelaide and three of Australia’s most celebrated food and wine regions – the Barossa, McLaren Vale, and Adelaide Hills.

A TRUE TASTE FOR TRAVEL

From opening night’s four-course roaming dining degustation at the Adelaide Markets to a tour of Tanunda and Seppeltsfield, a private cooking demonstration at Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop, lunch with wine at d’Arry’s Verandah restaurant at the iconic d’Arenberg estate and more, guests will discover for themselves why South Australia is considered one of the most alluring jewels in the crown of Australian food, wine, and accommodation.

When you visit South Australia, you embark on a journey full of local flavours. This is the ultimate destination for a seafood safari, with the best seafood coming straight from the Southern Ocean. Plus, we have divine cheeses, fruit and vegetables from the Adelaide Hills and Angus beef farmed on the grand pastures on the banks of the Murray River

“The small group journeys with us are expertly curated with no detail forgotten,” says Delma. “We offer premium accommodation, head to locations bigger groups simply can’t access, and ensure the adventure is seamless, stress-free and timed to perfection.”

AN APPETITE FOR THE AUTHENTIC

When asked what the secret is to providing guests with a uniquely inspired itinerary, Delma attributes it all to a commitment to the authentic. “Guests interact with real people, the creators and makers in these locations, and of course other travellers along the way,” she says. It’s the people that make the difference, says Delma. “The ones working on the road, in the office… all of us are the reason we’re thriving. We’re all passionate people who love travel and are experts in our field.”

This local connection is a foundational element of Inspiring Journeys and its offerings. “With more than 100 years’ combined experience in showcasing the very best of our unique locations, we continue to support local industries and businesses, visiting quirky little country towns, finding out-of-the-way hidden gems and seeing all the iconic sights that promise moments of awe,” Delma says. “You really won’t find a better group of people to show you this country!”
